Dear Diary,

Today started with a mysterious letter addressed to me as “Bella.” Confusion clouded my mind as I wondered who could be mistaking me for someone else. Emily delivered the letter, claiming it came from someone named Bumble Grumbletoe. She mentioned that a raven delivered it in my name, which piqued my curiosity.

Initially, I assumed the letter was from my parents, but to my surprise, it was from someone named Bumble Grumbletoe. In the letter, he extended a warm welcome to Ebonvale and expressed his support for me. However, he also voiced concerns about the mismanagement of Ebonshade forest and the indiscriminate killing of creatures by unknown individuals. While the issues raised were valid, I couldn’t fathom why he chose to send the letter to me instead of addressing it directly to the Ministry or the Headmistress.

Despite my confusion, I decided to keep the letter and meet Bumble Grumbletoe to understand his intentions better. I tucked the letter into my bag and headed to Professor Wilbur Xorki’s spell class. However, upon reaching the classroom, I discovered that the professor hadn’t arrived yet.

With some free time on my hands, I opted to visit the Ebonlores Library. I was overwhelmed with questions swirling in my mind, and I believed that finding answers on my own would be more fruitful than seeking them from others.

I saw Albert there, he happened to be there too, as he works in the library. I asked him if there were any books related to Luna Mount palace or other palaces of ebonvale, but he informed me that he had already checked and found nothing and he informed me that there were no books related to Palaces in the library. This revelation left me puzzled and wondering where the books about palaces could be.

Albert shared an intriguing tidbit of information. He mentioned witnessing Professor Lyra Emberforge and Mr. Servius taking some books, a cupboard, and other items from the library about a week ago. When I inquired further about their destination, Albert admitted that he didn’t know for sure. However, he revealed that it was a common practice for Professor Lyra Emberforge and Mr. Servius to collect suspicious items found in Ebonvale. Sometimes the items would be returned, while other times they wouldn’t.

Albert even recounted a chilling rumor from decades ago about a student who was from Terravale hall vanished after being taken by them. The student, believed to be a mundane, never returned, leaving everyone in a state of mystery. It made me wonder about the selection process for students entering the chambers and whether there was more to it than met the eye.

Albert reassured me that perhaps the book about palaces had been mistakenly taken with those items and would return in a few weeks. He then handed me another book called “Pharmakon Praxis,” a guide to potion making. He encouraged me to read it, emphasizing that it would aid in my learning process, especially since I had joined the school later than others.

After our time at the library, Albert and I went to the food court for breakfast. It was there that he confided in me about his father, who was a mundane. Due to the new restriction policy, Albert feared he would never be able to see his father again. His pain was evident, but he found solace in knowing that his father loved and missed him. As I listened to Albert’s story, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of loneliness myself. Without the comforting presence of my maa and the reassuring love of Adam, I felt adrift in a sea of uncertainty.

Feeling contemplative,
Zoe
