Beginning
Dear Diary,
Today marks the first day in Ebonvale, and I’m starting to write from my room in the Luna Mount Palace. The view from my window is amazing, overlooking the entire palace and the town below. Dad’s friend, Lucius Ravenscroft, gave us this place as a gift, and I can’t help but wonder why Grandma warned against living here.
It all started with Grandma’s strange death. She was my world because my parents were always too busy with their business. After she passed away, they decided we should move, and now, here we are in Ebonvale. Grandma always told me and Adam, my best friend from school, to keep a diary. According to her, pens draw solutions to every problem, and writing would help us find our way.
As I sit here, pen in hand, I think about the past months — Grandma’s death, my parents accepting Luna Mount Palace, and our arrival in this mysterious town. Grandma didn’t want us to take the palace, saying it was for memories, not life. She hid thousands of invitations throughout her life, warning us about the dangers in the palace. Dad respected her wishes, but things changed after her mysterious death.
Lucius Ravenscroft, Dad’s new business friend, gave us Luna Mount Palace, one of the four palaces in Ebonvale. The town itself is enchanting, surrounded by mountains and forests. The architecture is ancient, and the air carries whispers of history and mystery. The old, spooky feel of the place is unlike anything I’ve experienced in my previous city. I feel something different when we enter the town; it’s like being in a different world. One thing that keeps lingering in my mind is the mysterious eyes I saw on the roadside in Ebonvale.
Despite being considered the richest family in the city, Grandma’s warnings echo in my mind. I can see the entire palace from my window, and it’s both grand and eerie. I wonder what stories these old walls hold and why Grandma concealed those invitations.
Before moving, I confided in Adam about the palace. He doesn’t want me to leave because I know he has feelings for me, but I decided to leave so he could find someone else. I felt guilty that all those years he felt for me, and unknowingly I hurt him. It’s not fair to hold him back.
The town of Ebonvale is a stark contrast to our previous city. The mountains, the seasons, the animals’ voices, and the ancient architecture create a unique atmosphere. Luna Mount, one of the king’s four palaces, stands tall and silent, waiting to unveil its secrets. I don’t know how many things are going to come.
Mom and Dad got busy with their business again. They don’t even celebrate. One thing I noticed here is that people wear very different kinds of clothes. Yeah, the weather is quite cold here, but who wears five clothes at once? At least it looks that way.
I found some entertainment here, Mr. Bronzi. He is a caretaker, but the only thing he does is eat and make bluffs about the palace. Mr. Ravenscroft said he looks dangerous but has a very innocent heart.
As I sit in my room, I can’t shake the feeling of unease. What is the history behind Ebonvale and Luna Mount? Why did Grandma hide those invitations, and why did she warn us about this place? The mystery hangs in the air, making me both curious and cautious.
Tomorrow is a new day in this intriguing town. I’ll continue to document my experiences in this diary, hoping to uncover the secrets that lie within Luna Mount and Ebonvale.
Yours,
Zoe
