Platform

Dear Diary,

I’m exhausted. Today was my first day at Ebonlores School, and let me tell you, it was nothing like I expected. I got ready and went with our driver to the school address given in the letter. However, when we arrived, it was like stepping onto an ancient platform, frozen in time, and eerily silent. Many students were already there, and I felt their stares like I had committed some grave mistake.

Ms. Tailholme, the secretary and manager of student affairs, approached me and handed me a notice. I read it quickly and asked the driver to leave because I had to go with them. That’s when things took an unexpected turn.

A white horse with a black and blood-red chariot pulled up, and it looked both horrific and royal. Surprisingly, despite its small appearance, we all comfortably fit inside. I took my assigned seat and the journey began. They served us candies, juice, fruits, and everything imaginable — all for free. But what struck me as strange was that no one spoke to me, and they stared at me as if I didn’t belong there. As an introvert, I don’t mind, but a little courtesy wouldn’t hurt.

I dozed off in the chariot, only to be awakened by strange noises. It felt like whispers, urging me to stop. Memories of the eyes I saw on the Ebonvale roadside flashed before me. I heard terrifying animal noises, and when I asked where we were, Ms. Tailholme looked at me with disdain. It was as if I had lost all rights or was trapped in a cage. I sensed her instructing wolves outside, and I peeked through the glass window.

It’s around 8 pm now, and I’m still in the chariot. I have no idea where we’re headed. My overthinking mind wonders if Mom and Dad didn’t want to be with me, but I push that thought away, reminiscing about the past when I happily lived with Ma and Adam. I hope I can handle everything without Adam.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention the dream I had. I think it was around morning when I woke up and took the Luna Mount stairs to get water. But as I descended, it felt like I was somewhere else, an unfamiliar place that wasn’t our palace. Strange noises surrounded me, and I felt like someone was holding my leg, paralyzing me. I woke up terrified.

The whole day has been like a bizarre dream, and I can’t shake off the feeling that something isn’t right. I don’t know what awaits me at Ebonlores School or what these strange experiences mean. But I’ll continue documenting my journey, hoping to make sense of it all.

Yours,
Zoe
