The Carcerix
Continue…
Today brought a whirlwind of revelations and mysteries that left me with more questions than answers. As I journey through the labyrinth of secrets that shroud Ebonvale, I find myself grappling with uncertainty and intrigue at every turn.
My day began with a visit to the library, where I hoped to uncover the truth behind the elusive door I had stumbled upon yesterday. To my surprise, Albert was already there, waiting patiently amidst the towering shelves of books. As I approached the spot where I had seen the mysterious door, my heart pounded with anticipation, but to my dismay, there was nothing there but solid wall.
However, my disappointment was short-lived as Albert revealed a book titled “The Dead Beans,” which held the key to unlocking another layer of the enigma surrounding Ebonvale. Within its pages lay the names of prisoners confined within a place known as “Carcerix,” a prison shrouded in mystery and dread. It is said that once a person enters Carcerix, escape becomes an impossibility, their fate sealed within its impenetrable walls.
Albert and I were perplexed by the revelation, for if Carcerix was truly inescapable, how did Bumble Grumbletoe manage to send letters from within its confines? The puzzle deepened as we searched the book for any mention of Grumbletoe, but his name remained elusive, leaving us with more questions than answers.
Amidst our investigation, one name stood out to me like a beacon in the darkness: “Mahendra Raj.” Though I knew not why, I felt a strange connection to this name, a gnawing curiosity that refused to be ignored.
Our exploration was cut short as Albert received word that Lilith required his assistance in preparing for the upcoming Magus Meet. With a heavy heart, I bid Albert farewell and made my way back to Terravale Hall, my mind buzzing with thoughts and questions.
At dinner, I chose to remain in solitude, seeking solace in the quiet confines of my chamber. However, my solitude was interrupted by the arrival of Lilith’s fiery salamander, Flara, bearing news of a gathering in the Great Hall. With a sense of trepidation, I ventured forth to join Lilith and her companions, where we shared a meal and words of comfort.
As we dined, Lilith confided in us about her father’s imprisonment, her pain palpable in the flickering light of the torches. We offered her our support and reassurance, promising to stand by her side through the trials that lay ahead.
Later, as I made my way back to Terravale Hall, I was intercepted by Mr. Servius, who escorted me to the Headmistress’s office. There, I was presented with an unexpected invitation to the Magus Meet, though not as a participant, but as a guest. The reason for my invitation remains a mystery, leaving me to ponder the implications of my presence at such a prestigious gathering.
As I retire to my chamber for the night, I am filled with a sense of foreboding and anticipation. The days ahead promise to be fraught with intrigue and uncertainty, but I am determined to unravel the mysteries that lie hidden within the shadowy corridors of Ebonvale.
Yours in curiosity and apprehension,
Zoe
