Dear Diary,

After visiting Mr. Merlin’s marvelous shop, where wondrous items lay untouched on the shelves, Professor Xorki and I found ourselves wandering through the streets of the Magimorphus Mark. Eventually, we arrived at a peculiar establishment known as Beryldor’s Haunted Hooch. The atmosphere was eerie, with an air of desolation surrounding the darkened hut. A weathered sign outside warned against entering, recounting the tale of Aldus Cyrus Beryldor, who had supposedly disappeared within its walls, never to be seen again.

Despite the foreboding aura of the place, the other side of the road was bustling with activity. It seemed that the Kettlebrew Café, located opposite Beryldor’s hooch, was drawing a large crowd eagerly awaiting the arrival of someone named Wanda Witchington. The contrast between the deserted hut and the lively café intrigued me, prompting me to inquire about Wanda Witchington’s significance.

Professor Xorki seemed surprised by my lack of knowledge about Wanda Witchington. He proceeded to inform me that King Benjamin, my father, is going to organizing a grand Jamboree at Luna Mount Palace, and Wanda Witchington is among the esteemed guests expected to attend. According to the professor, Wanda had once been a member of the Obliterators from the Ferndale Academy of Sorcery. Decades ago, she had made a significant discovery believed to safeguard the realm, earning the favor of the Ministry and their lord. As a result, she now led a lavish lifestyle, despite facing discrimination in the past due to her appearance and skin.

The revelation about Wanda Witchington’s past intrigued me deeply. It was fascinating to learn how someone could rise from obscurity to prominence through their contributions to the safety of the realm. Yet, it also highlighted the complexities of society, with individuals being judged based on superficial factors rather than their deeds or character.

As Professor Xorki and I continued our conversation, I found myself drawn deeper into the mysteries surrounding the Jamboree. The professor explained that King Benjamin and the other kings of the realm had decided to host the event as a means of moving past the mistakes of their ancestors. It appeared that they believed their forebears had erred by not acknowledging and following the Lord of the Lores and the Ministry.

Listening intently, I absorbed every word Professor Xorki uttered, pondering the implications of the upcoming gathering. However, I realized that my knowledge of the palace affairs was lacking, prompting the professor to inquire whether I would be attending the Jamboree. I confessed that I was unaware of the event, feeling somewhat disconnected from the palace and my parents.

In response, Professor Xorki reassured me, affirming that my parents loved me dearly but were undoubtedly preoccupied with their duties as monarchs. His words offered a glimmer of comfort amidst my feelings of uncertainty and detachment. Despite the reassurance, I couldn’t shake the lingering sense of longing for a connection with my parents and a sense of belonging within the palace walls.

Curiosity piqued, I questioned the professor about Queen Nebulosa Lumewatch’s potential attendance at the Jamboree. His response was cryptic, leaving the possibility open but shrouded in uncertainty. The enigmatic nature of the queen’s involvement added another layer of intrigue to the unfolding events, leaving me eager to uncover more secrets lurking beneath the surface.

Luckly, amidst the chaotic crowd, a taxi driver — a young girl around my age — offered to transport us to Nova Nexus. Despite her youthful appearance, she exuded confidence and determination, qualities that belied her tender age. However, Professor Xorki couldn’t help but express concern about her age and whether she possessed the necessary licenses to drive to our destination. Fortunately, her assurance put our worries to rest, and we embarked on our journey aboard her trusty vehicle, affectionately named “Zippy.”

To my surprise, Zippy was no ordinary car. As soon as the young driver ignited the engine, we were propelled forward at a speed that matched the velocity of light itself. The sensation was exhilarating, yet strangely surreal, as if we were traversing the skies on wings of magic. Despite the rapid pace, the interior of the car remained remarkably comfortable and spacious, shielding us from the outside world as we hurtled through the celestial expanse.

During our journey, the young driver her name, Marrie Rosigen, she noticed my school uniform from Ebonlore’s School of Arcane Arts and struck up a conversation. She revealed that she also went to the ebonlores school but she lamented that she was never allowed to join the prestigious Foresight Fire. therefore, she had too study magic at a school in Ebonhaven village. Her words hinted at a deeper disillusionment with the arcane community, as she expressed doubts about the truth behind its teachings and practices.

As she shared her experiences, I couldn’t help but empathize with her sense of exclusion and disillusionment. It seemed that she possessed a keen intellect and formidable magical abilities, yet she was denied the opportunity to showcase her talents due to the prejudices and secrecy that permeated the magical world. Her candid revelations shed light on the darker undercurrents within our society, prompting me to question the true motives behind the decisions made by those in positions of power.

With a smile that radiated warmth and determination, Marrie shared snippets of her own magical journey, beginning with her schooling at Belladonna’s Coven School. Belladonna’s Coven School, nestled in the northern shade of the Ebonshade Forest, immediately sparked my curiosity. Founded by two ex-students of Ebonlores School, Galen Septimus and Winifred Pendergast, it seemed to embody a different approach to magic — one that was deeply rooted in the traditions of their village. Marrie’s description painted a vivid picture of a school where students were encouraged to explore the mysteries of the realm, guided by the wisdom of their founders and the enchanting allure of the forest.

Listening to Marrie’s tales of her village school and its ideology opened my eyes to a different perspective on magic and the realm. It was a stark contrast to the structured environment of Ebonlores School, where tradition and discipline were paramount. Despite the differences, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of admiration for the students of Belladonna’s Coven School, who dared to challenge convention and forge their own path in the magical world.

Amidst our conversation, I stole a glance at Professor Xorki, only to find him engrossed in examining the metallic card from Davenport & Sons. His focused expression hinted at the significance of the object, yet there was an air of mystery surrounding his actions. For a fleeting moment, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss — that perhaps the professor sitting beside me was more than he appeared to be.

As we continued our journey, Marrie’s voice broke through my thoughts, announcing our arrival at Nova Nexus. The sight of the celestial station, shimmering in the distance like a beacon of possibility, filled me with anticipation and excitement. Little did I know that our adventures were only just beginning, and that Nova Nexus held the key to unlocking the mysteries that lay hidden within the realms of magic.

Yours in wonder and anticipation,

Zoe
